The internet is done connecting us.
If you’re reading this you already have the information about the entire world and beyond at your fingertips.
As far as the human timeline goes, this is the most connected we have ever been. Everything beyond this point is a frantic effort to see what else can we do, what more can we imagine and successfully bring into existence. The technological revolution is happening now, it is not a near distant object of the future anymore.
And we get front row seats to see the shift occur- to have witnessed the coming of smartphones and now to be able see them reach a point where actually using them requires bare minimum effort.
We are making machines and training them to do our work for us and until they can, we will keep making machines that make our labor less and less strenuous, reduce it to a point where we do not exert any significant efforts.
And when we have achieved exactly that, when we have let the “robots take over”, we’ll probably start afresh, start on some other seemingly far-fetched expedition once again.
Necessity might have been the mother of invention but perhaps invention is secondary to curiosity, which is human nature in the same manner the very first caveman went striking two stones and there was fire.
